Six Dem Governors Hold Out On Health Care Letter

A standard letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader Boehner, telling them states “will only achieve the health care security and stability they need if we succeed in working together with the Congress and the President to achieve health care reform.”


But missing from the signatures at the bottom are six governors.

But what does his legislative record show?

Health Services for Minors – On Feb. 1, 2003, Pollard voted NO on
HB 1499 to require parental notification when minors receive health
services for sexually transmitted diseases, illegal drug use,
contraception, pregnancy and contemplating suicide. Passed 59-39.

‘Morning After’ Pill – On Feb. 17, 2004, Pollard voted NO on HB
1403 to require parental consent prior to minors being prescribed
“morning after” abortifacient pills. Passed 59-41.

‘Morning After’ Pill – On Feb. 17, 2004, Pollard voted NO on HB
1414 to bar college and university health clinics from giving “morn-ing
after” pills to minors without parental consent. Passed 52-47.

Pre-Born Babies – On Feb. 3, 2005, Pollard voted YES to amend HB
1524 by redefining human fetuses as not of the homo sapiens species
from fertilization to birth. Failed 32-59.

Abortion Clinics – On Feb. 2, 2005, Pollard voted NO on HB 2347 to
permit localities to require licenses for the operation of abortion clinics.
Passed 60-36.

Marriage Amendment – On Feb. 8, 2005, Pollard voted NO on
HJ 586 to permit Virginia’s voters to consider a constitutional
amendment that marriage may exist only between a man and a woman.
